Taste Nature Social Enterprise
Taste Nature is built on foundations of sustainable and ethical values, applying a holistic model of health and healing – of the earth where we source our food, of our physical bodies, mental and spiritual wellbeing, and our society through learning and connectedness.
The Social Enterprise (registered charitable trust #CC59242) was established to deliver community outreach programs, we want to ensure that the benefits of organics, health and wellbeing are accessible to all, empowering people and promoting change.
The Ōtepoti Garden Festival is just one of the projects being developed under the Taste Nature Social Enterprise. The purpose of the festival is to showcases the city’s botanical diversity at its best. From the oldest Botanical Gardens in New Zealand to our wild coastal and forest landscapes, there is a world of colour, culture and abundance here in Ōtepoti.
Dunedin has a competitive edge in garden tourism, with three NZGT Gardens of International Significance. Garden tourism is an important component of the NZ visitor offering and as a destination, Dunedin needs an event led strategy to spark interest and action to travel. Garden visiting and seasonal garden key events are a compelling reason for people to visit Dunedin boosting our visitor numbers and engaging our communities. Botanical tourism is emerging as a vibrant reason for travellers to visit New Zealand, fuelled by the country’s rich biodiversity and distinctive plant life. With over 80% of its native plants being endemic, New Zealand offers a botanical experience that is truly unique in the world. Dunedin’s gardens and our garden festival will play an increasingly important role in eco-tourism, conservation, and cultural storytelling. The growing interest in botanical attractions reflects travellers’ desire for sustainable, nature-focused experiences, making botanical tourism an increasingly significant draw for visitors to New Zealand.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic thinker to develop and create a unique tourism product offering for the city of Dunedin. The inaugural Ōtepoti Garden Festival is launching this Spring and we need support to help market and coordinate our first series of events for the festival.
