Village Wise

Introducing the Business:

VillageWise is a Dunedin based social impact start up developing MidStream, a digital platform that helps families navigate disability, health and support services more easily. MidStream is currently at early prototype/MVP development stage. We are testing and consistently co-designing the tool with families in Ōtepoti, including Māori, Pacific and other families, to improve the look, feel, usability and practical value of the platform.

The purpose of MidStream is to reduce the emotional and administrative burden on families by helping them organise their story, identify support needs, prepare information for services, and share relevant information securely with the agencies they choose.

VillageWise is unique because the platform is being developed from lived experience, community sector practice, systems thinking and direct testing with families. Rather than being a case management tool, MidStream sits closer to the family and supports better coordination across agencies. Our users include disabled people, families, carers and potentially agencies involved in disability, health, social services and Whānau Ora navigation.

What the Business needs:

Digital Product Development Intern - This role has been filled

VillageWise is seeking support from a student intern to continue development and refinement of MidStream, its early stage digital platform for families navigating disability, health and support services.

The role involves assisting with the design, build and improvement of the tool’s user flow, front end experience, service navigation features and prototype functionality.

The intern will help translate feedback from families into practical product improvements, including changes to the look, feel, usability and overall user experience of the tool. This includes supporting refinement of the MVP, testing early functionality, improving usability, and helping the platform better meet the needs of families in Ōtepoti, including Māori, Pacific and other families.

The work is suited to a student with skills or interest in software development, product design, web platforms, user experience, artificial intelligence tools, digital health, social impact technology, or start up development.

The internship will provide practical experience in an early stage social enterprise, including exposure to product development, user centred design, problem solving, community impact, and the realities of building a digital tool from concept to working prototype.
